Digboi ExcursionsDigboi town is one of the most visited places in the upper zone of Assam. Excursions From Digboi

Margherita
Margherita is a small town in the Tinsukia district of Assam, situated at a distance of about 14 km to the east of Digboi. The prime attraction of this place is the collieries that were established by the British. Coal India Limited, one of the biggest coal industries in India, is situated in this place. Besides this, Margherita is also famous for its plywood factories and is the centre of the Tea Gardens in Assam.

Duliajan
Around 15 km from Margherita, on the border of Assam- Arunachal Pradesh, is a small town of exquisite natural beauty. Surrounded by greenery and lush tea gardens, Duliajan is one of the frequently visited places of Upper Assam. The place is one of the biggest tea growing areas in the world and a visit to any one of them is definitely a pleasurable experience. Besides this, the headquarters of Oil India is also located here.

Saikhowa National Park
The park is situated at a distance of 60 km from Digboi, in the Tinsukia district of Assam. A number of rare and endangered species, like the Royal Bengal Tiger, Gangetic Dolphin, Barking Deer, Greater Adjutant Stork, Indian Shag and Grey Heron, can be found in this park. Its prime attraction is the Pearl House, where 79 feral horses that had escaped from the Army Camps of the Second World War or were left loose during the earthquake in 1950 are living wild and free. These horses are actually the third or the fourth generation of those tamed Army horses.

Naharkatia
Naharkatia, a town situated in the Dibrugarh district of Assam, is about 32 km from Digboi. The place is considered to be the commercial hub of the state and has a number of petroleum and gas reserves within its vicinity. In fact, the oldest oil pool in the state is located here only.

Namphake village
A few kilometers from Naharkatia, on the banks of the river Burhidihing, is the Namphake village of Assam. The main tourist attraction of this region is an exquisite Buddhist monastery set amidst beautiful natural settings and serene environment. Apart from this, the other attractions of this area are the Musulinda tank, Ashoka pillar, Pagoda (1937), and traditional stilt houses.

Ridge Point
The Ridge Hill Point is located near Digboi town, in the Tinsukia district of Assam. The view from this point is simply magnificent and breathtaking. People often come to this place to have a bird’s eye view of Digboi. On clear days, one can even see the snow- capped mountains of the Eastern Himalayas, from here.

Namdapha National Park
About 100 km to the east of Digboi, in the state of Arunachal Pradesh, is a vast stretch of wilderness, covering a total area of about 1985 sq km. The park is one of the biggest wildlife protected areas in India and boasts of a wide range of flora and fauna unique to this region. Such rich biodiversity and unique natural environment make the place notable and worth seeing.
