Bihar Yoga Bharati (BYB) was established by Paramhamsa Swami Niranjanananda Saraswati, in the year 1994, as a charitable educational institution. The main objective behind the setting up of such an institute was to conserve and renew the entire span of yogic science, by combining academic and scientific methodology with a spiritual vision. Bihar Yoga Bharati offers scholars, scientist, doctors and yoga aspirants from all over the country as well as the globe a golden opportunity to work together.

The scholars at the institution devise scientific basis for the expansion, development and rapid incorporation of Yoga into modern society. established along the lines of Nalanda and Vikramshila, it offers all the yoga aspirants with a complete academic and yogic education, apart from the required training, in the traditional Gurukul or ashram environment. The wonderful blend of serene ambience and expert sanyaasis, offered by Bihar Yoga Bharati, is just ideal for the students.

The combination of rigorous training and ashram lifestyle helps them imbibe the Yogic principles in the right way. Bihar Yoga Bharati has a full-fledged undergraduate department, through which it offers a four month certificate course and a one year diploma course in Yogic Studies. The postgraduate department offers a one -ear diploma in Yoga Ecology and two-year master courses - MA in Yoga Philosophy, MA/MSc in Yoga Psychology and M.Sc. in Applied Science. Bihar Yoga Bharati is the first university of its kind to impart a comprehensive Yogic education with provision for MA, M.Sc., Mphil, Phd, DSc, Dlitt.
