Daman

Lying on the Gujarat coast, Daman is near Mumbai yet far from its crowd. An erstwhile Portuguese enclave, its bounded on the north and south by Bhagwan and Kalem river respectively. A picturesque port town and a popular gateway for urban population, its surrounded by the Gujarat state on the east and in the west by the Arabian sea.

Access

Railways
Daman is linked by road only to the rest part of India. The nearest railhead Vapi, which is about 12-13 km away, isthe turn off point on the NH 8, that links Delhi-Mumbai.

A number of trains links Vapi with Ahmedabad and Mumbai. Few important ones are :

From Vapi one can opt for a shared taxi, that costs around Rs 10-15 or exclusive hire (charges around RS 70). Taxis are virtually available in all parts of cities, that ofcourse include railway station and bus stand. Autorickshaw is another options; the fare is negotiable.

Roadways
