Located in the north-east of Shimla on the Hindustan-Tibet Road, amidst lofty deodars at an altitude of 8,884 ft, overlooking the Sutlej Valley, Narkanda is a beautiful, quaint town surrounded by the Shivalik Ranges.

It's a perfect place for people who like to spend some time in solitude, for peace and tranquility. Narkanda, with a spectacular vista of snow peaks on offer, is just apt for seeking seclusion in the unruffled mountains. The surrounding region is the hub of cherries and apples. The area also has forests of fir and spruce, along with maple, aspen and cedar trees. Just a 5km trek from Narkanda brings to Hatu Peak, which has an average elevation of 11000 ft. This wooded trek unfolds a picturesque scene of undulating meadows, snow peaks and valleys.

On the edge of Hatu, you can see stretches of apple orchards and acres of wild flowers. A little further lies the Greater Himalaya and a number of peaks like the Kinner Kailash, the Srikhand and the Kullu ranges. Kotgarh, a place known for apple orchards, is just 16 km from Narkanda. The history states that Satyanand Stokes brought the apple to this place to help improve the economy of this area. The government is popularizing Narkanda as a skiing resort to boost travel & tourism in the region.

Narkanda is a small, picturesque town based in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. Perched at an altitude of 8884 feet on the Hindustan Tibet road (NH 22), it stands surrounded by the Shivalik ranges of Himalayas. Situated amidst fragrant pine forests, Narkanda is frequented by tourists in winters, as it is a very popular ski resort.
