Bannerghatta National Park

Location:	Bangalore, Karnataka
Best Time to Visit:	November to May
Main Attractions:	Tiger and Elephant Safari
Timings:	9.00 am - 5.00 pm. Closed on Tuesdays

Established in 1971, Bannerghatta National Park is part of the Nilgiris-Eastern Ghats Reserve (NEGR). Regarded the largest elephant reserve in the country, the NEGR is the abode to over 2500 Asiatic elephants. As such migratory corridors for elephant movements pass through the Banerghatta Park.

The Bannerghatta National Park offers a multitude of options for tourists to get a closer glimpse of the animal kingdom. You can avail of lion and elephant safaris that will take you to the innermost regions of the Park. The Crocodile Farm plays host to big crocs, while the Serpentarium boasts of an amazing reptile collection.

Flora at Bannerghatta National Park
A treasure trove of exotic wildlife species, Bannerghata wildlife sanctuary is enriched with evergreen flora. The park teems with expansive tracts of moist deciduous teak forest. Other varieties of trees include jalari, chujjullu, neem, tamarind, and zizyphus.

Fauna at Bannerghatta National Park
While Asiatic elephants are the chief attractions of the park, the carnivore community is represented by tigers and lions. The herbivores include gaurs, wild pigs, sloth bears, sambars, chitals, spotted deer, barking deer, common langur, bonnet macaque, porcupine and hare.
